October 28th Wedding + Interview!

Bryan and Kelsey may be newlyweds, but that doesn't mean the first dates are over! We fell so in love with this couple, that we finally worked up the courage to ask them if they felt the same way about us. Luckily, this beautiful bride and groom said yes! Consider this our official DTR talk.

There are so many options when choosing a wedding venue! How did you decide on Silver Oaks Chateau?

You know that saying when you know, you know? I feel like that saying could have been the motto for the whole wedding process. With the guy, the venue, the dress, just everything. When I knew, I knew and there was no changing my mind. I remember pulling up to Silver Oaks Chateau for the first time, only a short week after being engaged, and being in complete awe. I think I can speak for both Bryan and myself when I say that we knew from the moment we stepped foot in Silver Oaks that this was the place we wanted to get married. From the beautiful reception hall, to the surrounding landscape and of course the gorgeous bride suite, we both couldn’t help but fall in love with Silver Oaks Chateau. It might sound corny, but I actually got the chills and cried happy tears when we booked the venue the very next day. I told you, when I know, I know!

Lots of couples say their wedding day goes by so quickly. Did you feel like you were able to relax and enjoy the big day?

Through out the whole planning process I had so many people tell me something will inevitably go wrong on the big day. I can honestly say everything went as smoothly as I had hoped, that is unless I just wasn’t told about it, which is very possible. From the moment we got into the bridal suite to walking down the hill to see Bryan for the first time to saying our I dos and celebrating at the reception, I was able to enjoy every aspect of our big day. There wasn’t one moment where I had to think about the vendors, the decorations or the details of the day. It was so nice to be able to soak up every moment of the whole day and truly be fully invested in Bryan and the loved ones who were helping us celebrate.

Your ceremony was outdoors (and gorgeous!) but rain or cold weather is often a factor. How did you feel about possibly doing an indoor ceremony?

I was completely open to an indoor ceremony. I remember seeing pictures of other brides who had their ceremony indoors and was still in utter shock at how beautiful it looked. Silver Oaks is a beautiful venue and I really think even if it would have rained, our day would have been just as beautiful. The only thing I really wanted outdoors were the pictures. Luckily it was a beautiful almost 80-degree day in October and the fall colors were AMAZING!

Do you have a favorite spot in the estate or on the grounds of Silver Oaks Chateau?

It’s so hard to pick a favorite spot at Silver Oaks. Everything is just breathtaking. Bryan and I did our first look down the trail and in the middle of the woods. With the fall colors, wheat and leaves it was absolutely beautiful. It was private and just made that moment between Bryan and I more special. Of course, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the bridal suite every time I stepped in it as well. It was perfect for all us girls to spend the day getting ready in!

Planning a wedding can be stressful and time consuming. Did you feel like the team at Silver Oaks Chateau was helpful in the planning process?

Callie and the rest of the team at Silver Oaks were more than helpful when it came to the planning process. In college I worked for a wedding planner and was able to really see the benefit of having one especially when it came to making sure everything ran smoothly the day of the wedding. The fact that they provided a day of coordinator is one of the main reasons I picked Silver Oaks. From planning how the reception was going to be set up, to helping us plan the ceremony, to making sure everything ran smoothly and everyone was where they were supposed to be on the day of the wedding, Callie was there every step of the way. As I said before, I don’t think I could have asked for the day to go any smoother and I really believe that is all because of the wonderful staff at Silver Oaks and the various vendors we had.

If you could give one piece of advice to a bride just beginning to plan out her big day, what would you say?

My big piece of advice would be to relax. While it may seem very overwhelming at first, things will come into place one by one. If you get too wrapped up in making everything perfect, you lose sight of what’s really important, the bond between two people who love each other. Because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what table decorations you use or the song you dance to, what really matters is that you’re marrying your best friend. So relax and enjoy the process because it really does go by in the blink of an eye.
